Setting: Seth's room in Seto's mansion
Rating: PG, for Seth's mouth, probably
Summary: Atem brings Seth a gift, and they connect over a cream puff. And then Seth's turns into a bitch and Atem leaves.
Seth was still lying on the bed. Seto may or may not have been around, he wasn't sure. He could have been at work. Either way, Seth was, as per usual, lying on his stomach, staring at the wall in front of his face and getting moody from having nothing to do. |
Atem was nervous beyond belief. He wasn't sure that Seth really wanted to see him but he didn't decline the other having accepted it. This was his chance to make a good impression on the other. At least he hoped so. He knocked on the door and sighed looking up at the facade of the mansion waiting. |
Some random servant answered the door for him. |
Atem spoke with the servant, explaining his reason for being here and who he was seeing and they took him to Seth's room, at least the door to the room and left him there. He slowly raised his hand to knock but then he paused. Then he knocked after thinking a bit more. |
"Come in," Seth said without moving, since he really couldn't, staring at the wall more. |
Atem came into the room and stood in the doorway. "Hi, Seth." he said as he looked down at the floor. "Thanks for letting me come by and visit." |
Seth raised his head and looked back over his shoulder. "Oh... it's you," he noted blankly. |
"Yes." so far this visit wasn't starting off all that great. "Um, feeling any better?" he offered, not as if that was a good topic of conversation at all but it was the next thing that popped into his head. |
"Not any worse," Seth said neutrally, still watching him. "You don't have to continue standing in the doorway." |
He moved out of the doorway and dared to walk closer. "I, um, brought you something. I hope you don't mind." |
"What is it?"he asked with a slight frown. He couldn't think of anything from ...Atem, that was his name, right?... that wouldn't relate to his past memories that he didn't want to be reminded of... |
He walked closer and extended his hands. There was a cream puff wrapped in a blue wrapping with small stars on it. "I thought you might like it." |
Seth blinked at the... thing. "What is it?" he asked, shifting closer. He wasn't well versed in... anything, which included food, at the moment. |
"It's a pastry. They call it a cream puff." |
"Hn..." He took it and looked at it a moment. Well, always up for trying new things, he supposed... Idly his finger traced patterns in the stars on the paper for a moment. |
"I hope you like it." he said as he watched him and then he frowned a bit and lowered his head as the other traced patterns in the stars -that brought back memories. The hands at his side clinched a little and he took a deep breath. "I guess enjoy it whenever you feel like it." |
Seth, who really didn't have any reason no t to enjoy it now, pulled back the wrapping and warily took a bit. After a moment, he nodded. "I like it," he admitted. |
Atem smiled a bit. "I'm glad. So it's good then? I've never had one before..." |
Seth nodded, mouth full, and held up the puff in a silent offer for Atem ottry some. |
He shook his head. "I bought it for you." |
"I'll be insulted if you don't." |
Atem looked at the puff. "Are you sure I can have some?" |
"Would I offer it if I didn't want you to try it?" Seth asked, mildly exasperated. "Why are you so unsure of yourself?" |
"It's kind of annoying." |
"I'm not unsure of myself." he frowned a little and took the puff and took a small bite. Then he smiled a little and brushed off some of the cream from his lips. "It is good." |
"I told you." Seth peeled the paper from the puff and stuck it to the wall; at least it was something more interesting than blank white to stare at. Idly his fingers traced patterns on it again as he finished the cream puff, apparently lost in thought. |
He had to fight back the urge to make some passing mention of how similar what he was doing now, was to how he used to trace then constellations. "Why did you put that on the wall? Miss looking at the stars?" he asked softly. |
"Hm?" Seth looked up at him. "Oh, no, I don't... actually know what you're talking about." He really hadn't been outside at night, actually. He didn't know what the night sky looked like. "It's more interesting than the wall, though. I don't have a lot else to look at besides what's in front of my face." |
"You've not seen the stars?" he asked with a frown. |
"I suppose not. Nothing that look like these things, anyway." |
"Well, they don;t really look like that for real." he smiled a little. "I could carry you outside and you could see them. It's almost nightfall." he didn't know what kind of reaction this would get but it was worth a shot. |
The idea of being carried anywhere, by anyone, for any reason, was humiliating. Still, he knew he couldn't walk. That left only one option. "I think I'll pass," he said. |
"Alright." he leaned against the wall then since he had been standing and sighed. "Maybe when you feel better and more able to move you'll be able to see them yourself." |
"I assume so. For the moment, I'll have to make do with this." He tapped on the paper once. Hm. It might be nice to get the whole room done up like that. "I see you're fairly mobile now." |
"Maybe we could go look at the stars together when you feel better. I find it's much more fun that way. at least in my opinion." then he gave a shrug. "Actually, I'm still in a fair amount of pain. I just took something to make it better for a while. It'll hurt once the medication wears off." |
He thought about saying something snarky about how that would teach him to hold wild orgies where half the town got fucked or was encouraged to fuck him, Seth, but decided it probably wasn't worth it and just perhaps he should try the route of not antagonizing people. "If it's going to put you in pain you shouldn't have come to see me." |
"I wanted to come and make sure you were alright...to see for myself that you were here and safe." |
"And the cream puff shop happened to be on the way." |
"Well, I wanted to bring you something..so I took a bit of a side trip to get it." he confessed. After all he wasn't really close to the place at all and had gone out of his way to bring him the treat. |
"You didn't have to," Seth pointed out. "It probably caused you undue pain later." |
"I wanted to do it though so it's not a problem." he gave another shrug. "If I hadn't wanted to do it I would've have, believe me." |
"Which still doesn't make it any more intelligent, but I'm not going to argue with you doing whatever the hell you want." He rested his head on his arms. |
He looked at the floor and was at a loss on what else to say to his former lover. "I guess I can go now if you want me too." Gods this felt awkward.... |
"I can't stop you if you want to. I don't necessarily think you have to, but it's your decision, since it was your decision to come here." He didn't seem to notice the awkwardness. |
"I just don't have anything more to say that doesn't fall into the forbidden topics of conversation." he sighed as he looked back at him. "But...maybe later you'll let me visit again. Get to know you a little more? Make new memories?" |
Really, everything Atem said was fine, right up until the last sentence. The mention of memories made his teeth grind a little. What was it with him constantly being reminded of that? "I'm not going to stop you from visiting, but you'll be having a lot of memories of this room for a while. And if we were married," he couldn't help but snark to take out some of the moodiness, "shouldn't you already know me?" |
"You're the one who said to forget the past or any pasts that anyone might have had with you. I'm only doing what you asked." and the awkwardness of the moment increased a notch. |
"Trying to make new memories." |
Damn... throwing his words back at him. Guaranteed to put him in a better mood. "Fine, it's very kind of you to honor my wishes." |
"I bet." he didn't want to stay any longer now though. "I think I'm going to go and let you rest. I think my pain medicine is wearing off so I better get back home..." |
"Goodbye then." And now he was a jackass. He wondered if he had always been that way. Probably. |
Atem gave a wave and the required words of farewell and left. |
