One man log

Characters: OOC Yuugi
Setting: Egypt: Temple of Darkness Ascendant; studio
Rating: G
Summary: Yuugi works on increasing his skill level.

Yuugi slipped away from Amun as he worked in other places in the temple. He knew now was the time to work on some of those higher level spells he had yet to obtain, especially when it was becoming clear that he and Amun might be set to take over small parts of the world at a time. The timing was perfect and he smiled to himself as he entered his studio, locking the door behind him and leaving a magical signature behind that told he did not wish to be disturbed.

Delicate work, that was what this was going to be and dangerous too. He really didn’t think he would master it the first time, but maybe if he got lucky the God of light would smile down their favor on him. He himself, was a god to a degree, but there was still that slim chance he might fail and it was that slim chance he had to made sure he avoided at all cost. The last thing he wanted was for Amun to have to help him or get himself injured while working.

He grabbed up the large, locked spell book and placed it on a pedestal. Slowly, he turned yellowed pages until he reached a little beyond midway in the book. Here began the advanced spells. Some of them he had already mastered but there were other, more useful spells within the leaves beyond this point and it was several more pages that he turned before he truly settled on them.

This was the moment and with a smile he sent a small prayer to the gods of light that he might have the power, resources and will to master such a spell. With a thought he brought the image of himself sprawled out on the cushions to his call and arranged it on the easel near by. He took a deep breath and then allowed his eyes to fall shut. This was going to be a two step process and probably take a fair amount of time and energy.

Hands caressed the book as the incantation slipped from his lips. Slowly, a golden rope of light connected him with the painting and he grinned. It was working! Maybe this spell wasn’t as difficult as he thought it was going to be. Soon another rope of light, this one blue latched onto the painting. Yes! Perfect! This spell was going to be his and through it he would be able to do wonderous things. It would be a wonderful plan to fall back on, once he told Amun about it.

He continued to chant and then felt a tug on his body. That was odd as it wasn’t supposed to happen. A slice of coldness ripped through his body then and he gasped as his eyes opened but he didn’t really see anything around him. Shit! This wasn’t good. Not good at all. He slumped over the book then, his body sagging against it as the two connections remained between him and the painting.

Soon the two connections diminished though and Yuugi’s body slipped to the floor with an unforgiving thud. It was all so odd. Very different and not at all what he had planned. Of course this wasn’t going to stop him from attempting again later. He had just done something foolish. The wards on his door vanished, as he had commanded them to do if this happened and a ghostly being made its way to find Amun, again as Yuugi had planned. Now he just had to wait.
