Summary: Mahaado seeks the advice of the goddess Isis.
“Greetings sorcerer. I knew you would come.” The goddess sensed Mahaado as he approached from the shadows. “The lord of wisdom imparted to me that you are not a mortal easily swayed.”
Mahaado bowed before the great goddess, perched before him in her falcon form.
“I cannot be swayed when the life of someone whom I care about is forsaken.”
“Your intentions are honorable.” She replied softly. “Though, you are merely a mortal man, not a god. I know what you seek – a power possessed by only the highest of the gods, by the lord Ra himself.”
Mahaado remained kneeling.
“And you, goddess, are the keeper of the sacred name of Ra.”
“That I am.” She continued, her tone unchanged. “And such a secret is meant only for gods and kings.”
“I implore you to consider an exception, goddess.” Mahaado pleaded.
Isis was silent for a moment, as if considering his request. She could easily sense the heka that flowed through him, regarding him as a potential sage. However, the mark of Apep also flowed through his veins. He had the ability to control the serpent of chaos, and that sits uneasily with any god.
“I must save his life. I must undo what the dark Marik has done.”
The falcon turned its head at the sound of that name.
“The demonic bearer of the shadow Ra?”
“Yes. The very same. Had I managed to destroy him while he was weak, this tragedy would not have occurred. And therefore, I regard my other self’s death as a weight upon my heart. I must make amends for what I had failed to do.”
“The bearer of the shadow Ra is a monster, an abomination of all that light touches.”
“Please, I beg of you, goddess. Lend me your magic so that I may undo what the dark Marik has done.”
“No. You must first prove yourself worthy of wielding such magic.”
Mahaado wasted no time.
“How may I accomplish such a task?”
“So eager, are you? Your determination will be rewarded, if you succeed.” Isis began. “The shadow Ra is an imitation, but it holds great power. Just as an eclipsed sun still rises and falls, his eyes can see past life and death, both giving it and taking it away.”
The sorcerer listened carefully.
“If you have the strength to obtain it, the eye of the dark Ra can grant you the power you seek for a short span of time. However, you must discover its secrets on your own. I cannot assist you any more than I already have.”
“But what of his spirit? The afterworld is closed to me now. I must retrieve what remains of his spirit before it is judged or…”
“Upon Thoth’s request, I have spoken to my husband on your behalf. He will remain in the charge of Anubis until your time is up.” She added. “If you can master this magic, then I will release his spirit into your charge.”
“Thank you, goddess. Thank you.” Mahaado bowed quite respectfully.
“Gratitude is unnecessary, as you have earned nothing. You have until the sun sets on the second day to restore the life that has been taken away.”
“I understand.”
“Then go, sorcerer. Once you have bled through the eye of Ra, Osiris will know that your heka is worthy.”
He stood, and left the temple of Isis. He knew only that he had to seek out Marik immediately. There was no time to lose.

Summary: Mahaado goes about obtaining the eye of Ra, as directed by the goddess. It's not exactly a piece of cake.
Mahaado returned from his meeting with the goddess Isis with newfound purpose. There was a way that he could utilize the resurrective powers of the god Ra. However, she had given him a very short timeframe in which he could do so.
'Once you have bled through the eye of Ra, Osiris will know that your heka is worthy.' he recalled the goddess' words. 'And you will raise him from the underworld.'
He didn't know exactly what such a spell would contain. The goddess told him only that he would need to discover it in time, to consider this a test of worth. Mahaado tried to push uncertainty from his mind as he ventured into the night. For any of the spells to work, he would need the eye of Ra. To take the eye of Ra, he would need to find Marik.
Marik was meandering in and out of the Shadow Realm, enjoying making sport of some more individuals he had locked there. He was sure Mahaado would come after him eventually. And indeed, Mahaado was.
He sensed the sorcerer when he drew close, but chose not to pause in his meanderings.
Mahaado had obviously caught onto the fiend's trail, and hurried after him. "Marik!"
Marik turned to look over his shoulder, amused. "Haven't you got an other self to save? Or have you given up?"
"All in due time, fiend."
"Oh?"
Mahaado summoned his wand to his side. "You have gone too far this time."
"I've barely begun fool."
"I place his death on my heart. And henceforth will show you absolutely no mercy."
"As inviting as it sounds, I have no time for you right now, priest," he replied, turning away. "I have other things to attend to."
Mahaado disappeared and reappeared in front of his enemy. He reached out and grabbed Marik by the neck. "I think not."
Marik managed a laugh, despite the grip. "My my, haven't we got a temper! If I had known that this would be the reaction, I would have killed him long ago."
Mahaado released him long enough to form a powerful blast in his palms. He fired it at Marik at close range. And he summoned Kafele to his side.
Marik was thrown backwards, not able to block the hit.
Mahaado did not strike again, but rather stood his ground. He had to lure Marik into summoning his ka.
"Well," he replied, getting to his feet. "Someone is awfully persistent. Have you learned nothing of our past battles?"
"On the contrary, I have learned much." He knew that the dark fiend's ka held the secret to reviving his other self.
"Obviously you haven't learned that I cannot be defeated," his grin turned dark. "I suppose I'll just have to show you then."
Mahaado raised his wand, and Kafele raised his. Together, they took to the sides, to force him into a ka battle.
No force was really necessary. Marik called on the beast nestled in his soul, and it answered the call. The dark being came out, ready to protect and fight at its master's call.
Good, Mahaado thought to himself. All was going as planned. He leapt into the air, levitating higher, to draw them into the sky. This way, at least, no innocents would be hurt in the process. He summoned his ritual knife as well, and started chanting his own spells. Ra was powerful, but he knew of ways to restrain and even defeat such a ka. He had been planning such fusion spells for months. He knew not if they were ready, but he had little time for second guesses now. "Serpent of chaos, hear my call and come to me!"
He called Kafele into him for a moment. Lightning shot through the sky as the serpent broke free from the deepest depths of the shadow realm "Fuse with my ba, god of chaos! Enter my soul, and give me your strength!"
A flash of light and Marik was faced with quite a sight. Before him, Mahaado had taken the form of the chaos sorcerer, his aura blending with that of a god. His skin had a blue hue, his robes glowing black. Beside him, Kafele had taken on the guise of the Dark Magician of Chaos.
Marik followed, recognizing the energy of that god. And though he didn't want to really admit it, there was little he could do. His own Ra wasn't ready for such a foe. Yet. Unless....
"Kafele, keep Marik at bay. Leave Ra to me." he nodded to his ka.
Marik closed his eyes, focusing on his ka beast. The great creature of darkness and fire took on the shape of a phoenix, it's strongest and most powerful form. Next he tried to merge with his own beast, lending what power he could to it.
Mahaado had been flying towards the ka when it turned phoenix. He pulled off his attempt just as the flames graced his skin. Kafele, meanwhile, was firing blasts of powerful dark magic at Marik to slow down any fusion he could make.
The attacks certainly made it more difficult, and Marik debated whether to counter or simply try to complete the fusion
"He's gonna do it anyway!" Kafele shouted back.
Mahaado looked into the eyes of the phoenix. There was no avoiding the fact that this was going to hurt... a lot. He whispered a powerful spell, balls of light and dark energy forming in his hands as he leapt toward the fiery beast with every ounce of Apep's strength. "Shadows, coat me with your miasma. Allow me to survive the flames. Allow me to create life from death!"
Marik didn't know what the sorcerer was trying to accomplish here, but he couldn't resist such a close target. Even if the fusion wasn't totally complete. "If it's death you want, fool, then it's death you'll get from my beast!"
Even Kafele turned to see this. Mahaado sped up, hurling his body right at Ra in phoenix form. He launched his attack as his body went into the fire, his hand reaching forward to claw the winged dragon's right eye out. At the same time, Marik had his ka beast launch an attack at the approaching sorcerer, striving to incinerate him.
And... the opposites COLLIDE!!!!
Marik felt the shock all throughout his being. What was the fool of a sorcerer doing?!
Mahaado burst through Ra, taking with him the eye of the beast as he flew through the flames. The dark fire clung to his body as he found the fusion breaking apart. Kafele faded back to his normal form. The serpent left Mahaado's mind and soul, returning to the depths of the shadows.
Marik let out a scream, his own fusion collapsing with him along with it. He hit the ground hard, barely moving. Blood began to leak out of his own right eye, either a sympathetic result of what Mahaado had done to his Ra or because ka and man were a part of each other.
It was likely the latter. But Mahaado screamed as well - the phoenix fire melting unprotected skin.
"Kafele... Attack him directly!" Mahaado managed to shout, fighting to extinguish the magical fire.
Marik glanced up with his one good eye, determined not to be taken advantage of so long as he could manage something. He threw a shield up to protect himself from the attack.
Kafele fired several blasts, but they were blocked. Marik summoned back his ka beast, and decided now was time to make an exit. He would have his revenge for this.
Mahaado watched as the creature and its master disappeared. The fires vanished. In his right hand was the eye of Ra. He passed out, falling from the sky.
