Summary: After believing that he failed in his task to resurrect his other self with the Eye of Ra, a crushed (and not to mention completely exhausted) Mahaado goes for a walk. It was probably the worst decision he could have made at the time... because as one battle was over, another was just beginning.

Mahaado walked out of his shop, not even looking back. His ceremonial robes were stained with blood and his face was wet with tears. The effects of the past few days were more than evident - burns, scars, exhaustion, and now failure. Mahaado didn't think that even a drink could take this pain away, and so he just started walking in the cold, dark night.

In the dark and the cold, a being darker than shadows watched him. So, he had failed after all... or thought he had. It made little difference, and Amun would shed no tears for his Mahaado's loss... they had been bitterest enemies in Khemet when he was Pharaoh after all. But this Mahaado, weakened and heartsore, exhausted and beaten... he could be useful. Cloaking his magic, Amun drifted behind him on wings of shadow.

The sorcerer felt only the faintest hint that he was being followed. And one could argue whether he even cared. He shed more tears, but wiped them on his sleeve. And he just kept walking.

This was going to be no fun at all. Ahh well, fun could wait. He moved, fingers twining around Mahaado's neck. "Greetings. High Priest." he whispered in his ear. Only a moment...

Mahaado's eyes shot open wide. It was only now that his senses started to focus. He spun around to face the dark pharaoh. "You!"

"Me." he drifted back on wings of night, seeing the collar form around Mahaado's throat where he had touched him. "You sould have asked for help from darker spirits, mage. I would have helped, and you would have suceeded. What is it the Christians say? "Pride goeth before the fall?"

The only thing Mahaado felt was the sudden lack of heka. He heard a faint cry from inside his mind as Kafele found himself bound inside the soul room, unable to escape. His trembling hands flew to his neck. There was a collar there.

"Yes, you're my prisoner now." Amun smirked. "That will block your heka and bind your ka." He spoke softly, dead words that echoed with inhuman evil and black chains formed around his arms and legs.

He tried to escape, diving away from the chains as fast as his body could manage.

Amun laughed slightly, sending the chains swirling after him. He might have a game after all. Mahaado knew nothing more about the chains than what his own senses told him. He could hear them behind him, and simply did his best to avoid them.

"Run little mage." Amun ghosted after him. "Are you afraid? You should be..."

He didn't want to admit it, but now he very much was. Each step he took, he knew he only narrowly avoided them. And without heka, he knew that he stood no chance to fight back. He continued running until he reached the end of a bridge overlooking a river.

"Aaa no... I don't think we'll let you do that." Amun snapped his fingers and the chains closed in on wrist and ankle.

Mahaado leapt over the edge of the bridge. The chains held him, dangling inches form the water. Amun fluttered down to face him. "That was rather silly."

Mahaado continued to struggle.

He sighed and the chains dragged him back onto the bridge, winding around him. "Well, back to the Temple with us."

"... No!" but it was a useless scream.

Amun smirked a little and teleported them back to the Temple of Darkness Ascending. And locked him in a clean, small cage. "There we go... oh, and one more thing." He reached into the cage and clipped off three hairs from Mahaado's head. "I need these."

He struggled against the chains, trying to strike against one of the three Amuns that stood before him. He couldn't tell if this was a multiply spell, an illusion, or merely the product of unrelenting dizziness.

Amun tucked the hairs away, stepped back and released the chains. "You may want to rest. The next couple days will be rather... busy."

He fell onto the bottom of the cage, lunging at the door with all his strength, reaching out towards the dark pharaoh. Amun smirked at him as he watched him flailing helplessly

"... Come back here... and fight me... with honor!" he shouted.

"See, that's the nice thing about being 'evil.' Amun told him. "I don't have to play fair unless I want to."

"Monster..." he tried to focus his attention on the hinges on the cage walls, looking for something to aim for, something to push against.

Amun flipped his wings closed. "Oh you can do better than that..." The hinges were solid cast iron, hammered into the wall and thick. He closed his eyes, and tried to steady himself. Forcing regenerative magic to build up the tiniest bit of heka he either could feel or just imagined he could feel, he launched a small, but focused blast against the corner of the cage. And then lost consciousness.

Amun chuckled as he watched the mage collapse. "Well, that was interesting." He tapped enchanted iron bars. "Did you really think I would put you in a cage that would be easy to escape from?" Still laughing, he turned and headed up to his altar. He had a spell to complete.
