Characters: IC!Yuugi, IC!Mahaado, OOC!Honda
Setting: Mahaado's potion shop
Rating: PG
Summary: Yuugi finds Mahaado drunk as a leper and barely conscious. Honda joins in just before the paramedics retrieve the magician.

"Mahaado?" Yuugi called as he walked into the potions shop. He hadn't seen the magician in what felt like ages due to tournaments, class, and finding a new significant other.

Azizi scuttled around Yugi's feet. *kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri*

The mage wasn't anywhere in the store. But there were a few discarded bottles of various intoxicants leading up the stairs. And some were in writing that Yugi had never even seen before.

"Uh...Mahaado? Oh, man..." Yuugi rushed up the stairs, hoping that this couldn't be.

*kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri* Azizi was pointing up the stairs, happy to know that either someone understood him or at least had good deductive skills.

How Mahaado had gotten up the stairs was probably anyone's guess. But he'd managed to make it through his sleeping quarters and into his bathroom - a very good place to be when drunkeness wears off.

Yuugi gasped, "Mahaado!" at the sight of him. "What in the world...?"

What had happened was five days of drinking in another dimension. Azeroth to be precise, with substances that made vodka look like tap water. Mahaado groaned at the sound of Yugi's voice. His skin was noticibly yellowed. He felt terrible, and probably looked about as bad as he felt.

"Mahaado..." The small duelist was on the verge of tears. "I should have known something was about to happen to you! Why didn't I come sooner?!"

The mage just groaned again. "... Dewlin... Lyndwin... cannot marry. Cannot marry..."

"Huh?" Who or what was Mahaado talking about? And why did those words sound familiar?

He wasn't very lucid. "... Delwyn... ug... can'ot lov'er... not sorcrer's way..."

"Um...what?" Yuugi pulled Mahaado's arm. "You're making no sense! I'm going to have to get you to a hospital!"

Mahaado just curled up on the floor in pain as Yugi grabbed his arm. "I'lovher... but I cn't murry her..."

"Who are you talking about, Mahaado? I'm going to call an ambulance for you. Hang on."

"... faerie..." he groaned. "marry th'a faerie..."

Yuugi dialed the emergency number on his cell phone. "Yes...he's mumbling about nonsense like fairies... Yes, he definitely is. There are bottles strewn about all over the place. Thank you." He hung up, then attended to Mahaado once more.

"...cldn't do it.. couln't go through wit'it..."

Honda, feeling a bit at a loss for what to do now that he thought he'd finally resolved certain issues from last weekend, figured why not wander over to Mahaado's. So he did.

Azizi greeted the next guest with an energetic chirp. *kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri*

Honda rolled his eyes and nodded slightly. "There's been a lot of that going on lately, ne?"

With a sigh, he hurried upstairs.

Where Yugi and Mahaado were.

Honda blinked, having been sort of expecting Mahaado to be alone.

"Uh... hey, long time no see. Any clue what he's had?" he asked as he looked for bottles to sniff.

"Honda-kun?" Yuugi turned his head to the tall man looming over him. "I'm not sure. A lot of the stuff is probably foreign..."

"This being Domino and this being Mahaado, it wouldn't surprise me."

A few of the bottles were brought back from Azeroth, and one of those was still full.

"...I feel like I should know this smell," Honda muttered when he came to the still full bottle. "Can't quite place it though."

The rest, of course, were the more familiar variants of vodka, everclear, and a little date wine.

"Times like this almost make me wonder why I let him move out. Almost, mind you," Honda told Yuugi.

Yuugi sighed. "Well, I called an ambulence. It should be here very shortly."

"...You think it's bad enough to call them, 'stead of just the Simon Center?" Honda gave Mahaado a closer look.

"He's passed out, Honda-kun!" Yuugi protested. "Of course he's going to need a hospital! Just look at his skin!"

His question was answered when a very soaked Kafele finally managed to summon himself out of Mahaado's soul room. He just glared up at Honda with a face that said 'Help! Please!'

"...Thought that was just the light or sumthin," Honda muttered under his breath before turning his attention to Kafele.

The dark magician ka hovered over the now unconscious body of its owner, looking exteremely concerned.

"What, Yuug' already called an ambulance! Not much else I can do, unless you want me to take him to the hospital instead," he snapped at Kafele.

There was a knock on the door, which Yuugi promptly answered.

'He said he'd never do it again, but he did. And he really did it to himself good. And it's a flooded mess in there. I thought I was gonna die!' Kafele shouted, even though no one but a sorcerer can hear a spirit.

"He's in there." Yuugi led a team of paramedics with a stretcher up the stairs.

"See, help arrives. Once again, I show up too late to do anything useful," Honda told Kafele before moving out of the paramedics way.

Kafele turned invisible rather than disappear back into the flooded soul room.

"I'm sorry, Honda-kun," Yuugi pleaded as the team began to situate Mahaado on the stretcher, showing any signs of a pulse or fever.

"Not to be distracting or anything, but I'd like to know which hospital is he going to?" Honda asked the paramedics entirely too calmly.

"Oh, no, it's fine Yuugi," Honda said as he gave him a weak smile. "You were here and I wasn't, it's as simple as that."

There was a fever. And his heart rate was rapid. The abdominal dullness proved that he really had outdone himself, creating a state of toxicity that even a master sorcerer couldn't fight off.

"They're taking him to Skip-bo," Yuugi answered for them. "Don't worry. Mahaado will be in good hands."

"Oh, okay... Yeah, they should have the proper up-to-date medical history stuff then," Honda replied quietly, looking away.

Kafele watched them take Mahaado away before he appeared again beside Honda. He looked like he was still dripping wet. 'He... he said he'd never do it again...' Kafele bowed his head, and floated quickly after them.

"Don't worry, Honda-kun. We can ensure that Mahado is safe. And you can just help out by visiting him." THe paramedics dragged Mahaado downstairs to carry him away to the hospital.

"I was going to go with them to make sure everything was okay with Mahaado's medical records... but if you and Kafele plan to do that instead, I can find something else to do til I can visit him."

Like maybe figure out if there were a way to give a ka a towel.

If there was a way, Kafele would likely have been grateful for it. But he was now more concerned with magically assisting Mahaado in any way he knew how.

"I guess the best thing to do now is stay here and watch the shop..." Yuugi thought aloud to himself, then turned to Honda. "Do you have a spare key, by any chance?"

"...Is bad that my first thought was, Mahaado knows what a key is?" Honda laughed nervously, shaking his head slightly. "Of course he probably does, I've just never known him to lock any door with anything but magic."

"No one is gonna steal from him after all, right?"

"Honda-kun, they've probably issued him a key when he first bought the place. Of course he'll know what to do with it."

"And I'm sure that if we help take care of the store and Azizi-kun, then no one will steal from it. or hurt Azizi-kun."

*kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri* Azizi chirped from behind them.

"Hey, little guy! Don't worry, your master will be home soon." Yuugi smiled to assure the little furball.

*kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri kuri*

Honda chuckled and patted Azizi. "Yeah yeah, you the invincible guard kuribo, I know."

"I can stick around and watch the shop I suppose, have at least some clue what's what by this point I think."

"Really don't know anyone who would try to steal from here though... except maybe Marik, which would just be weird if he stopped by while I'm here and Mahaado isn't."

"Yeah...but it would be a perfect opportunity..."

Honda glared at Yuugi. "No, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be. Okay?"

"Still, do you think we should take turns watching the shop?"

"Err... I don't mind watching the shop, but if you're really wanting to be worrying about both this shop and the game shop I won't talk you out of it."

"All right. If for any reason, you can't, then, just let me know. I'll be there. I guess it's time for me to leave, huh?"

Yuugi then left, waving goodbye to Honda.

Honda shrugged. "All I anticipate happening here right now is clearing out all these alcohol bottles. Bye, I'll talk to you again soon under better circumstances I hope.
