Future Plot RP Log

Characters: OOC!Mokuba and OOC!Honda
Setting: Cafe
Rating: G
Summary: Mokuba asks Honda to meet up to ask if Kafele can stay with him while Mokuba is away on a trip. They chat a bit longer before Mokuba leaves.

Mokuba walked into the cafe and right up to the counter to order a big cup of hot chocolate. It'd been a busy day, especially since he'd been gone all last week, but it'd been a good day as well. The hot chocolate was quick to make, and he was soon off to find a table, cup in hand.

Honda waited til he was sure Mokuba would be at the cafe before heading over, since about the last thing he wanted was to be stuck waiting for the other to arrive. Stalking up to the counter, he didn't bother to take off his sunglasses before ordering the first coffee to catch his attention.

Mokuba spotted him as he took a small sip of his drink. He waved at him. "Hey, Honda! I've got a table over here."

Honda glanced over and gave Mokuba a small wave to let him know he'd been heard before going back to watching the people behind the counter and waiting for his coffee. Luckily for the staff's nerves, it wasn't a long wait. Then Honda was free to go over to Mokuba to sit down. "Yo."

He smiled. "Thanks for coming to meet me."

"No problem," Honda replied with a shrug. "Figured it had to be important if you wanted to talk in person 'stead of just on the journals or by phone."

"Well...yeah, I guess it's kind of important." He could have called later, or explained it in the comments, he supposed, but Mokuba hadn't seen Honda in a while. "I need you to do me a favor."

"Oh? Now you've really got me curious." Honda sipped his coffee and waited to find out the favor.

"I have to leave for a trip and I'd like if you can watch Kafele. I'd rather not leave him alone at my place, and I don't really know if he wants to go home or not." Which, now that Mokuba thought about it, he probably should have asked Kafele first before talking to Honda.

Honda blinked several times at that, definitely not expecting it. "Uh... I guess I could," he finally managed to get out. "Y'kno, if he doesn't want to go stay with Mahaado or Mado or whoever else. Might be a little awkward, but I could..."

"He's doing pretty well, if you're worried about that. I just don't want him to try cooking while I'm not there or do magic and somehow blow up my couch."

"Oh, okay." Honda nodded slightly, that made some sense. "Wait, so if he doesn't go stay with someone else, would I be watching him in your apartment or at my place?"

"Your place, if that's alright," Mokuba said before taking a drink of his hot chocolate.

"Yeah, prolly safer that way. Less chance of him doing stuff around your stuff, more people around to watch out for him, all that... Just checking."

"No problem, and thank you. I really appreciate you doing this as long as Kafele is willing. I'll make it up to you, maybe get you a shirt from my travels."

"Uh-huh, you get me a shirt or whatever you end up deciding on. And I'll promise to make sure that Kafele is staying with someone, whether it ends up being me or not."

"Thanks. I had thought about taking him with me, but...it's better he stays here." Mokuba took another drink. "So how're things?"

"Not much different from before to be honest. Which seems... wrong somehow, huh?"

"I guess it can be good, as long as the before was nice."

Honda leaned back to think about that for a moment. "Eh... I guess it was. Not exactly quiet, not with so many kids around me all the time, but something like that. Peaceful maybe?"

"Peaceful sounds nice," Mokuba said as he watched him. "So you're peaceful feeling now then? I don't see how that can be wrong then. People would do a lot to feel peaceful."

"Heh, yeah, suppose so. What about you?"

Mokuba shrugged. "This are okay for me. Maybe getting better, actually. We'll see."

"Ah, hopefully so then," Honda said quietly before turning his attention back to his coffee.

"Yeah. So how are your kids?" He figured he should ask about them at least once.

Honda snickered. "Don't put yourself out trying to sound interested. They're all fine, despite that there's always at least one pair fighting about something or other. Think it's still just Ro and Johji though, unless another fight broke out while I've been gone."

"It's not that I'm not interested...well, maybe I'm not completely interested, but they're a part of your life. I should probably give Ro a call sometime, see if he asked out that girl he was talking about, or if he had someone else go around doing it for him."

Honda shook his head. "Nah, Emiku called to catch up with her and found out she's engaged. Weirded Emiku out even more than it did Ro I think. You could still call him though."

Mokuba frown. "Oh that's too bad, but maybe for the best if she was looking for marriage. I might give him a call when I get back. So what about you? You have someone special lately?"

Honda blinked several times, tried to figure out if he really heard Mokuba correctly. "...No, unless you mean people I let live with me. Why would I?"

"I don't know, it was just a question, that's all. I didn't mean to offend you."

Honda shrugged. "Oh okay. Just weird to hear a question like that coming from you, kay?"

"Just because I don't have anyone doesn't mean other people can't have someone. Maybe it wasn't the brightest question I ever asked, but I figured I'd ask it anyway."

"And now you're the one sounding all... offended. I was just confused, since I gave up on the 'someone special' idea ages ago."

"It could have changed..." Mokuba sighed and pushed his cup around. "I guess I could have just asked you online about this Kafele-sitting business."

"If I ever change my mind about the someone special thing, I'll let you know," Honda replied with a shrug. "Yeah, I guess we could have talked about this online. Was nice getting to see you in person without drama going on around us though."

Mokuba smiled just a little. "Yeah. I have to say I'm fearful of getting invited to Mahaado's house ever again."

Honda snickered. "From what I've gathered, I don't think you need to worry about any other dying rituals from him. Still... can't hurt to be cautious, ne?"

"Knowing Mahaado, he'll find a way of some kind."

"No clue what he'd need a ritual like that for again though."

"I guess that's true. Unless Kafele kills himself in a freak cooking or driving accident."

"Can that even happen to magicians?" Honda wondered aloud, then shook his head. "Not that I'd ask Kafele something like that, of course."

"Since he doesn't know how to cook or drive, I imagine it can. I haven't exactly asked since he was mostly sleeping since I've seen him."

Honda rolled his eyes. "He's a magician, plus this is Japan. I don't think he's gonna have much need to drive, honestly."

"He liked being in my car last night. It's not always about need, it can just be about enjoyment."

"Then he can enjoy having someone drive him, nothing wrong with that," Honda sighed. "I think you're worrying way too much."

"Maybe. Probably. I should probably get going now, make sure my place is still standing."

"Oh, you left him home alone?" Honda asked in amusement. "Yeah, you should probably get going in that case. Just so you don't worry any more than you already are."

"He was sleeping...which I hope he still is. It was really nice catching up, though. I know I haven't really been very social lately, but let's meet up again when I get back. I'll give a surprise gift in case I find something better than a t-shirt."

"Heh, sure. I'm looking forward to you getting back already," Honda teased.

"I bet." Mokuba got up and put his cup on the nearby used tray. "I'll have my phone with me, in case you miss me too much." He laughed. It'd been a while since he said that line.

"Same to you," Honda shot back with a grin, still indulging in his coffee.
