Setting: Random shop somewhere
Rating: Rather G-rated. PG for like one word, perhaps?
Summary: Siegfried is looking for a scarf after recent unsettling events, and Mana is looking for...something. They meet up, and after some words which make Siegfried's ego glow pleasantly, there is shopping
Mana was being her usual hyper and cheerful self. Dressed in usual outfit that made her unique, she thought of venturing out into the city on this fine sunny day! ...Okay, it might not of been that sunny, but to her it was! She was walking up to a store that had many different items, and she wondered how much money she had to purchase them.
It was a perfectly cloudy day, in Siegfried-pessimist-man's opinion. He was out for a search, as he was rather unsettled by recent events and hoping to take his mind off of them. This search was for a scarf - a nice one, and tasteful - and that store over there looked like a decent place to begin perhaps the first shopping experience he'd had in his entire life. Paying absolutely (almost) no attention to the girl in a strange outfit also approaching the store (he examined it for a total of half a second, deeming it disturbing and unlike HIS fashion taste), he approached the store with a sort of "I don't care but we'll see if there's anything here anyways" look about him.
Mana blinked a little with her eyes at the man approaching. "Seigfried-sama?!" She said, with her eyes widening again. "Oh, it is so nice to actually meet you without the hassle of that 'internet'!" She said, with a big smile.
Sieg turned. His name, with that most fitting honourific, had just graced his perfect ears, and whoever had dared speak his name in such a fashion was about to be very happy they had done so. "...ah." It was her. What was her name, again? Oh, yes. "Mana. Hello."
"How are you?" Mana said, with another bright smile on her face. "I am doing quite good!" And, yet again, it was the 9,000th or whatever smile that crossed Mana's face.
Smiles. My Self, I've never SEEN so many smiles. He was shocked at the way she was able to just grin at him. "I am doing..." How was Siegfried doing, besides hateful, irate, and catty? "...fine. I am glad that you are well." It was a bit of an overexaggeration, yes. So what? He could be polite...occasionally.
"Oh, that is good! Being fine is just as being quite good!" And then, it was another smile. Of course, what did Mana eat before she came here..? Her favorite substance!
"Perhaps," Siegfried said doubtfully. "Perhaps it is. You seem overly happy. Did you just get a cat, or are you always like this?" He was still in the afterglow of getting a kitten, himself, and he found it quite the wonderful thing, really. Deep down, at least.
"Oh, no. I am always like this! I stay happy because if I get sad or depressed, it is like looking at a different me, you know?" Mana said, with a small smile, and raising her eyebrow up.
"Are you one of those artistes, or something?" Siegfried felt vaguely uncomfortable in the prescence of one not a victim of gloom or angst - how long had it been? Well, other than since his other self left for the hospital... - but he kept it to himself. "It's an interesting theory to live by, but I wouldn't want to, myself." He shrugged.
"No, I am not. And, I see. Well, it is your own decision for your demeanor, not mine and not anyone's elses. No one should just try to change anyone else...at least that is what I would do." Mana said, with a single nod.
This comment, directed at the King of "Change now, because I want you to", was somewhat confusing. Don't change people? But then what are you supposed to do? "I see," he said, even though he didn't.
"I know, my philosophies are sometimes confusing to other people--I have heard it all before." Mana said, with another nod.
"I suppose you might have." Probably many times. "I must often deal with the same," continued Siegfried. "People do not understand my motivations, either."
"Ahh, so in a way, we are similar?" Mana said, with an eyebrow up, looking at Seigfried.
"In a way, I suppose so," Siegfried said, looking down
"So, why did you come out here? I just came out here for window shopping, and I would hate to admit it, but I am getting cold." Mana said, with slightly shivering.
"To buy a scarf," Siegfried said, recalling the purpose of this little excursion. "I believe they are in there..." He looked at her with some faint trace of concern in his gaze. "Perhaps we should go inside, if it's cold out here?"
"Oh, yes, please! Thank you, Seigfried-sama!" Mana said, with a bright smile. Of course, she could've used her heat spell, but using that much magic in one day was considerably tiring.
"Very well, then." Siegfried advanced - ahead of someone? Oh, fortunes! - to the door, and opened it to allow her to pass through before him. Best to keep those referring to me in such a way happy, after all...
Mana then went in, as she held the door opened for Seigfried. "As a way of paying you back for that kind deed." And, another smile was on her face.
"Thank you," he said uncertainly, and walked inside. "I hope you find the temperature in here more to your liking..."
Mana smiled, as she went into the store. Ah, so much heat! "It is more comfortable and warmer in here than it is outside!" Mana said, happily.
"It is indeed. I think..." Siegfried looked about the store, eyes narrowed. "I suspect we shall find the scarves over there." He indicated the general direction he felt scarves should be in, and began to proceed over to where he guessed they were.
Mana followed Seigfried, as she looked at the scarves as well. They were made at all of the same fabric, if not different, from Ancient Egypt. "Hmmm..."
"Mmm," he said fondly. "I knew I'd find them here." He began to look through them, searching for one of the right colour (or colours) that would suit him.
Mana also started to look at them. "Hm, this fabric feels as if they were transported from Ancient Egypt from here!" She said, with a very bright smile.
"Perhaps they were," Siegfried said, not really listening as he examined all shades of pinks and purples and reds. The other colours he left as "unsatisfactory": he didn't like them. Not really.
"Hm, while we are here, I could try to get a warmer outfit for the winter months. I am not used to this weather at all...it is too cold!" Mana said, with a little sigh that it was suddenly turning into the cold season.
"You probably should. That outfit..." He again gave it the briefest of glances, actually looking up from the scarves to do so. "...will not suit you when it is snowing."
"Oh, okay. Hm..." Mana turned her attention to some of the warmer outfits that were on display, and started to look at them--of course, it wasn't easy, considering she practically wore that every day.
"Indeed." Sieg went back to his scarves. Plum wasn't bad...but then again, neither was lilac. He really should compare these against his hair, see which looked the best.
Mana took off one of the warmer outfits, which was a dressy outfit, as she looked towards Seigfried, raising her eyebrow. "What looks better on me, Seigfried-sama?" With her eyebrow raised.
"I..." He had been distracted. Again. And yet, somehow, he didn't mind all too badly. Siegfried looked up, a not-scowling-for-once look of bemused defeat on his face. "Hn. What do you mean by 'better'? Which qualifications are you using, again?"
"Well, this outfit..." She held up a dress that looked similiar to her Ancient Egyptian culture and then one that had red and black on it. "or this one?" She said, with an eyebrow raised up.
"In general I would prefer that one." He indicated to the black-and-red dress. "However, on you...perhaps the former would look better." He folded his arms and cocked his head, examining them critically and trying to figure out which comparatively looked better.
"Oh, okay." Mana said, with a nod, waiting what his verdict would be towards the dresses that she picked out, so she just waited patiently.
"...yes, I think the former would look better on you. It'd be consistent with what you usually wear, at least. However, why do you feel the urge to pick and choose? Why not just have both?"
"Mm, I see, but...I do not have enough money..." Mana said, pathetically, with rubbing one of her hands behind her head.
"I do," Siegfried said. "I have more than enough. Do you want both?" This could count as a 'good deed'. Why he even bothered, though...
Mana's eyes widened, as she then nodded. "Thank you oh so much, Seigfried-sama!! I will think of anything to repay you!" Mana said, cheerily.
"We'll think of something, I'm sure," he said, turning back to the scarves. Hn. Against his lovely hair, and with his wonderfully classy (if slightly old-fashioned)...which WOULD look best...
Mana had both dresses in her arms, as she looked at the shoes. This was confusing to shop in this era, why, she had more luck finding the right spell in a book than looking for the perfect shoes for her outfit.
Mmm. Now. Pink, or a lovely shade of purple? I think purple... he thought, after a few moments' consideration. ...but which shade?
Mana decided to help, as she looked at his outfit and his hair. Hmm. Suddenly her hand went for a scarf, as she picked it out. "What about this one, Seigfried-sama?" With raising one of her eyebrows.
"...that one DOES look nice," he said approvingly. "Perhaps...yes, I think I shall buy that one."
"I think I have a little knack for this--considering that I always found scarves and whatnot back in Ancient Egypt." She said, with a bright smile.
"You had them back then?" he said, suspending his disbelief. "I suppose it's an accessory for the ages, after all." Maybe he should get multiples. Yes. A few different hues that complemented his hair. Why just one, anyways?
"Mm, yes. They were mostly made out of silk though, and some were made out of cotton. Silk for the rich people, like the people in the Pharaoh's court, and cotton for other people." Mana said, with a blink.
"Silk. Really..." He shrugged. "Sounds expensive. What sort of dyes did you appreciate?" he asked, picking a few more scarves that he found suitable.
"Mm, blue, or purple." Mana said, with a little smile. "It has been a long time, so I do not know of what actual dyes I liked back then." Mana said, with a nod.
"Several thousand years, after all. How've you been keeping yourself alive?" Siegfried asked with an amused tone of voice.
"Um, actually...I was transported here when I did a spell wrong and without any proper training." Mana said, with a nod.
"I see. You should always have proper training and instruction before you try any spells," he warned, still suspending his disbelieving urge to snicker.
"Yes, I realized that a long time ago, considering the fact that I had to do it to impress my apathetic priest..."
"Apathetic priest? Would I know this person?" he asked, mildly curious.
"The other Mahaado-sama. He is the priest from my era, or from my world." Mana said, with a nod.
"I see. I am not familiar with him. Perhaps you could introduce us."
"I could, but be warned, he can act quite pissy." Mana said, with a nod saying 'That's the truth, folks!'.
"I am capable of acting that way occasionally as well," Siegfried said. "I believe I could handle it."
"Maybe you and Mahaado-sama can get along." Mana said, with a bright smile.
"I hope that will be the case, really." Siegfried had picked up four or five pretty scarves, and felt he had nearly enough. "Wouldn't want to hate someone you like so."
Mana then said. "Eheh, he does not really care for anyone but himself, but he has his moments as when he wants to help me." Mana said, with a bright smile.
"I'm sure everyone gets those once in a while when they're around you." Hell, if it'd happened to SIEGFRIED, it could happen to anyone, couldn't it?
Mana's cheeks flushed slightly. "Eheheh, thank you for your compliment, Seigfried-sama." Mana said, with bowing at him.
Compliment? I guess you could take it as one. Siegfried mentally preened at the bow - respect is fun - and added, "No more than you deserve."
Mana nodded, as she then saw the perfect shoes and the necklace. Running towards then, her eyes widened like balloons. "Oh!!!" She was quite overjoyed of that.
Siegfried watched her, amused by what he saw as her childish antics. Perhaps he'd indulge her here, too.
"Please, can you purchase these for me? I will be help you in anyeay possible, Seigfried-sama!" She said, with a bright smile.
"Of course I could." He had an overgrown wallet, money to spare, and that horrifying sensation, the urge to aid with charity, rushing through him. Again he questioned his sanity. ...but she DID call him 'Siegfried-sama'...
"Thank you, Seigfried-sama!!!" Mana said, quite overjoyed at the fact that he would spend money on her. "I would do any work or anything you wish me to do!" Mana said, with another bright smile.
Siegfried shifted slightly. "We'll think of something," he reiterated. "Later, I think. Have you all that you desire to purchase, or should we linger yet longer?"
"Oh, okay. And, I do think I have everything that I want." Mana said, with a nod, still holding the dresses and whatnot on her arms.
"Good." Siegfried held the scarves he had chosen tightly in his hand. "Then shall we go actually purchase them?" he asked, in a way that was not so much a question as a direct statement. He walked over to the checkout counter -- had he ever seen one of these before?
"Okay!" Mana said, with holding all of her purchases her hands and arms. "What is wrong?" Mana said, with a blink.
"Wrong with what?" Sieg asked bemusedly. "Nothing's wrong..." he added, a tad defencive.
"Oh, okay." Mana said, with another nod, waiting for her turn in line to checkout for her own items that she chose.
"If you want me to just pay for those and hand them to you after they've been purchased," Siegfried said suddenly, "You might as well. It takes one individual out of the line."
"Oh, okay. Thank you, Seigfried-sama. I will wait for you when the purchases are done." Mana said, with a smile, giving her items to Seigfried, and she smiled as well.
Siegfried accepted them, and advanced in the line - it was a short line, anyways - to the front to pay for the items.
Mana waited at the entrance/exit, as she wondered how the outfits would look on her!
After a few minutes, Siegfried proceeded to the entrance/exit and to Mana, who he looked at as apathetically as ever. Well, as apathetically as was normal. "I'll take my purchases from the bag," he said, and did so, "and you can carry the rest in it."
"Okay, thank you, Seigfried-sama." She said, with a bow of respect, taking the bag into her hand, as she smiled as well.
"It was nothing," Siegfried assured her, which was true. "Enjoy them, why don't you?"
"I will, thank you ever so much, Seigfried-sama!" She said, with taking the necklace out of the bag, as she put it around her. Ahh, she did pick out the right one!
"I'll be taking my leave of you, then?" he said, blinking.
"Okay! I will be looking for you on that 'internet'!" She said, with another nod.
"I'll see you, I'm sure," Siegfried said, nodding back. And then, just like that, he left.
Mana also left, going back to the Ishtar residence.
