Setting: Sidewalk in Domino
Rating: G (I don't even know if there's a swear word...)
Summary: Mana and Ryuuzaki literally run into each other. Once the recognize who each is, thanks to LJ, they chat while heading towards Domino Museum.
Ryuuzaki walked along the sidewalks in the center of Domino city. He had spent hours at a dinosaur store but came out empty handed because he spent all his money on new binoculars. But they were really good ones! He held them in his hand as he walked, not watching where he was going.
Mana, on the other hand, was walking. Of course she couldn't use her flying spells and whatnot! She was looking up into the sky, and then she collided with someone. Falling flat onto her back, and the staff was away from her. "Owww!"
"Argh!" Ryuuzaki stumbled back and fell against the wall, clutching his precious binocular gift in his hand. Good, it was still safe. He had spent a month's worth of allowance on it. Once he was sure they were safe he looked at who he ran into. "I'm so sorry!!!"
"No! It is me who was not looking where she was going! I should be the one who is sorry!" Mana said, with looking for her staff--Aha! She picked it up and dusted off her outfit. "Wait...Ryuuzaki-san!?"
He blinked at her. "Yes?...oh, are you Mana-san?" His eyes sparkled. Was this the new friend he had made on LJ?
"Why, yes I am Mana-san!" Mana said, with a bright smile on her face. "I am so sorry for slamming into you like that! I do hope I do not be punished by the gods for that."
"And I hope that dinosaurs don't come and eat me." He said as way for an apology. He gently put the binoculars back in their wrapping and into his bag. "Whatcha doing Mana-san?"
Mana blinked at the binoculars, as she shrugged. "Oh, I was just walking around--I was going to visit the Museum again..." Mana said, with looking up, still holding her staff in her hands.
Ryuuzaki's eyes grew big at the mention of the Museum. "Really? They're having a big Dino-Exhibit there! Were you going to see that?"
"I was actually going to see the Egyptian side of it, so that I can actually see what ruins the archaeologists dug up in Egypt." Mana said, with a smile.
"So you are from Egypt then? Wow, that's really cool." He grabbed Mana-san's arm and started walking towards the museum. "It would have been neat to grow up back then. It would have been even neater to grow up with the dinosaurs." Though when he thought it all the way through, he frowned a little. Maybe it wouldn't have been such a good idea.
Mana was about to speak, before her arm was tugged. She went along, still having her staff in her hands, watching out for her hair piece on her head. "It actually was, without the droughts and whatnot. And, with the destruction of the pyramids and that things with Diabound running around....ooh! Mahaado-sama told me not to think of that!" Mana said, with a nod.
That was really strange. He turned to face her, giving her a questioning look. "Who are they? Are they other duelists?" Do I need to know about them and add them to my list? Oh, but I can't be mean to my Trio like that. They need the proper attention to make sure things are going well. If he wasn't there, any number of things could happen!
"Oh! No! Diabound is..well...the Devil...and Mahaado-sama is my teacher!" Mana said, with a small smile. Of course, she could practically name everyone who was in Ancient Egypt!
Ryuuzaki covered his mouth in horror. "The Devil? I'll have to stay away from this Diabound Devil then. Even if he is a duelist I don't want to follow him." He hoped his Kaiba-sama and Jounouchi-sama and Yuugi-sama had not met with this mean Devil. "So your Mahaado-san is a good person then?"
"Do stay away from him, Ryuuzaki-san. Making acquaintances with him is like making a deal with the devil. And, that is good." Mana said, with a smile. "And, Mahaado-sama is really good! He is teaching me spells and potion making...unlike my lazy and apathetic priest..."
"Hmm, I don't really like teachers all that much. They always tell me to pay attention at school, but I like to think of more important things!" He nodded. "But if you like your Mahaado-san, maybe not all teachers are bad then. You're lucky then!"
"I see. And, paying attention really helps. Making yourself vulnerable to anything really is bad for you, Ryuuzaki-san. Trust me!" And that's when Mana started to laugh incoherently at what happened. "And, yes! All teachers are not bad, and I suppose I am." Mana said, with another smile.
This Mana-san sure was really interesting. He wondered what she was laughing at, but he couldn't figure it out so he just laughed along like he knew. His mom had told him to play pretend like this a lot, especially with company, so people wouldn't know she had a 'weird son.' He didn't know what she meant by that, even with all the times he asked her. "I try to pay attention, Mana-san. They just talk about things like history things, and that's boring! But I do like math! With math I can see how far away I need to be from other people, like when I get an order from the court..." He smiled at her.
"Oh, well, history is really interesting. I would not mind to go to this 'school' to see what has happened in the five thousand years I was away. And, what is this 'math' you speak of?" Mana blinked a little.
Ryuuzaki tapped his chin as he planned out what to say. "Math is lots of numbers, and sometimes even letters when you don't know the numbers. You can make super long equations with them." He threw his hands out wide to show just how long they could go. "And you figure things out. I use it a lot to figure out distance. It can be really fun when you're sitting by yourself at night."
"Oh...I see. In Ancient Egypt, they did not have this math--and I am sure that this is because of that math really was not important--magic lessons were important to me." Mana said, with another smile. "I still look to magic as something that I would really love to study more!"
"You do magic?" He looked at her more closely now. Why didn't he see it before? She looked just like a girl who would do magic. Even had a big staff! Oh, he'd have to punish himself later tonight for not making an observation. No smelling the article of clothing he took from Yuugi-sama's house.
"Yes! I can do magic. I have cured many of headaches already. And head pains." Mana said, with a nod. It was true. "It does seem like my other self is not as enthusiastic of learning healing things--but I am! I love learning on how to help others!" Mana said, with another bright smile.
"Really?" Wow, Mana-san seemed like such a cool person. If he could do magic, well, he'd do a lot of things. But he couldn't..."Um, Mana-san? Would you ever try to help me out maybe?"
"Yes and I will! It might take a long time for you to learn magic, but it is something that is doable. I just have to convince my lazy and apathetic priest to teach you." Mana said, with another smile.
He had just meant to have her help, but learning magic for himself would be even better. Not able to contain his join just to himself, he went up and gave Mana-san the biggest dino-hug there ever was. "Thank you thank you thank you, Mana-san!!!!!"
Mana's blue eyes widened a lot, as she then dropped her staff again. Blushing madly, she then said. "Um, you are welcomed, Ryuuzaki-san!" Mana said, with still blushing.
"You are one of my new really good friends!" Ryuuzaki pulled away from her and bent down. His hands fumbled as he picked up her staff, but he finally got hold of it and handed it to her. "But I can't watch you like I do the Trio. I hope that's okay!" He didn't want to offend a new friend.
"Oh, well, that is good! And, that is alright. I do not mind at all!" Mana said, with taking her staff from Ryuuzaki. "And I am not offended at all! Really!" Mana said, with a thumbs up.
He gave her a thumbs up back. "I'm glad that everything's good then. Oh!" He grabbed a cord that was sticking out of his pocket and tugged on it, pulling out a digital camera. "Can I take a picture of you? I take pictures of all of my friends." And he could prove it, too! He had one computer filled with pictures, mostly of the Trio, that he hid under his bed so his mom couldn't find it again. Last time he was sent to some really weird man who kept asking him questions and wanting to see his camera. Ryuuzaki never showed it to him.
"Oh, sure! I do not mind!" Mana said, with a smile. "So, er, where would you like to take this 'picture'?" Mana asked, with tilting her head slightly.
"You can just stand right there and hold your staff to I can see it." He peered through the lens to get a good shot. "And make sure to look like you're just walking along and don't notice the camera, okay? I like more natural shots that people don't usually know about."
"Okay." Mana nodded, as she held her staff with her, as she begun to walk along the street, still having her staff with her.
Ryuuzaki pressed his back into the wall and looked through the lens. Nope, that wasn't good. Oh, now and old lady got in the way, and that would have been the best picture! He patiently waited until...there! The light flashed as he snapped the picture. "Yay! I got it, Mana-san!"
"Alright!" Mana said, with another smile. "That was actually quite fun for that odd little contraption to take a picture of me. A slave in Ancient Egypt would have taken, let us see....two hours to get that!" Mana said, with another bright smile.
"Oh, that's much to long for me! There are so many pictures that could be taken during that time. Like what if someone uncrossed and recrossed their legs, but you weren't done with the first position? That would be really bad." He dangled his camera in front of her. "Do you have a camera?"
"Yeah, I see...and no. I do not know what that picturebox is." Mana said, with a blink of her eyes. Oh jeez, Mana! Get with the program!
Ryuuzaki held it out and pointed to the back. "This is the place you look through, and when you see what you want to take a picture of, you push this button and a light flashes and it takes the image of what's around." He quickly snapped another shot of her, this time a close-up of her face. He laughed.
Mana saw spots in her eyes, as she rubbed her eyes. Finding she made more spots, she shrieked a little. "What are these things that will not go away?!" Mana said, with a little growl, trying to get rid of them.
"Don't worry Mana-san!" He quickly pocketed his camera and tried to grab her arms so she would stop rubbing her eyes. "It's just the light from the camera. It'll go away soon!" Now he had probably lost a friend. He never was able to keep any friends.
Mana's arms were grabbed, as she said. "Oh...okay..I was going to say..." She just waited when the dots were going to go away. "And, you did not lose a friend!"
Tears welled up in his eyes. "Mana-san is so nice! I'm glad you still want to be my friend."
"Of course. My mother and father always told me to be nice to anyone! And, I do not mind to be friends with anyone. Just know that I dislike people who are meanies!"
"Then we should be perfect friends because I don't like mean people either!" And his Kaiba-sama wasn't mean, even if other people said so. "You had really good parents then if they told you that. Do you live with them now?"
"Oh, yay!" And that's when Mana sighed a little. "No, they died in Ancient Egypt...." She sighed just a little.
"I'm sorry to upset you Mana-san. I didn't know." He patted her on the shoulder. "My dad isn't here, either. But...but we can be good friends still. And you have your Mahaado-san, right?"
"Oh, yes I do. And, we still can be good friends! And, also, I do have my Mahaado-sama. And, Atemu-sama, and Seth-sama. And...Teana, Aishizu..." Mana said, with a smile.
A few of those names caught his ear and he turned and stared at her. "You know Atemu-sama and Seth-sama?" When he had first looked at his journal he didn't think it was true, but there were so many Kaiba-sama's and Yuugi-sama's and even more than one Jounouchi-sama. Today really was the best day!
"Yes! Atemu-sama is the one who was in Ancient Egypt with me, and Seth-sama is one who was the Pharaoh after Atemu-sama." Mana said, with a bright smile.
He grasped her hands. "You've made my day even better then before! I'll have to figure out about all these new people and get pictures of them, too."
Mana blushed once more. "Oh, I am so glad, Ryuuzaki-san that I made your day extra special! And, you bet! Atemu-sama is one really...um...attractive fellow..." She bit her lip and started to blush again.
Ryuuzaki looked a way, ashamed that color was tinting his cheeks as well. "Oh, well, yes, Yuugi-sama, and of course Atemu-sama, they do look nice..." He shuffled his feet on the ground. "Are you very close to Atemu-sama?"
"Close to Atemu-sama? Mm, yes. He is a friend." Mana said, with another smile on her face. "Why do you want to know, Ryuuzaki-san?" Mana asked, with raising her eyebrow at him.
"No reason, no reason!" He waved his arms around. But Mana-san seemed very cool, and she liked Atemu-sama too. "I just like to make sure that all the Yuugi-sama's are okay. I watch them and try to take care of them like that," he said in a soft voice.
"Oh, I see." Mana said, with a bright smile. "They are quite okay, as I think." Mana said, with a nod. "I see..." She nodded again.
Ryuuzaki smiled at that information. "I'm happy to hear that! Sometimes I can't watch over them all the time, especially during the day. I get in trouble by my mom when I'm not at school." He took a step closer to her, a pleading look in his eyes. "You'll make sure they stay okay then, okay? Can you do that?"
"Oh, and yes. I can watch over them, for sure." Mana said, with a nod. "I do not know of what of the future will hold, but it will be good!" Mana said, with another nod.
"I want them to have a good future. All the Trio deserve that. I hope that maybe I can be very close friends with them too, and we can have a good future together. And you and I will be such good friends too." Ryuuzaki gave her a thumbs up and a wink. He also happened to notice his watch and noted the time. His face fell into a frown.
Mana blinked a little, as she said. "What is wrong?" She asked with an eyebrow raised up, looking at him directly.
"My mom's gunna kill me!" He was supposed to be home almost an hour ago. Who knew looking at cameras and binoculars and other spying devices would be so much fun that he wouldn't realize the time? "Mana-san, I have to go now, even if I don't want to."
"Oh, okay. I understand. I will make it all easier for you." Suddenly she muttered an incantation and Ryuuzaki was transported to his house.
He was going to ask what she meant when he suddenly found himself staring at his room walls full of pictures of the Trio. Wow, Mana-san was so cool with her magic! After hiding the binoculars under his bed he went out into the kitchen, where he was promptly yelled at by his mom.
