Summary: Honda and Kat-chan exchange gifts. Dude, I don't think I have to tell you what goes on in these logs anymore. Oh, wait... something interesting does happen, and it proves that Katsuya is finally getting over his shyness...
Honda knocked on Katsuya's door and glanced down at his feet nervously. He had really wanted to get his best friend something special for Christmas this year, and he worried that his present wasn't going to be good enough. He tried his best to reassure himself that Katsuya would like his gift, but he was having little success in getting rid of all the nervous energy that he suddenly had. Worst of all, he wasn't even sure why he was so anxious about the holidays this year, unlike every year previous where he had been little more than apathetic about the whole thing. Biting his lip, he waited what seemed like an eternity until the door finally opened. Honda glanced up and smiled.
Katsuya opened the door, grinning at his friend. He was still timid, however, about how to break the news about his boyfriend as well as his lingering affections for Honda. Nevertheless, he still kept his head up high, for the blonde always looked for a brighter moment in the darkest of times. And this was Christmastime; it wasn't supposed to be a dark time at all. "Come in, Honda-kun." Katsuya motioned for his companion to step inside.
"Hey," Honda entered and pushed the door shut. "You been outside today? I think we might be in for more snow," he babbled, saying the first things that came to mind as he moved the brightly wrapped present in his arms from side to side. "I, uh, felt kinda silly walking around holding this... but I wasn't sure if it would stay on my bike if I drove here." He looked away, part of him wishing there was some mistletoe around just so he'd have something to distract himself from his nervousness. "So, um, yeah..."
"Oh, um..." Katsuya's heart skipped a beat. "Maybe... it's been getting colder..." He lowered his head, though his dark eyes shifted back and forth from the gift. He noticed that the tag read, "To Katsuya", but didn't say anything, as he didn't want to sound presumptuous.
"Yeah, I think it has." Honda glanced over and caught Katsuya looking at the gift he was holding. "Heh, right, I'm supposed to actually hand it over now, 'stead of standing here like an idiot holding it. Here," he held it out with one arm for his friend to take, "Shiz helped me pick it out, so it's kinda from her too, just so you know." His other hand dipped into his coat pocket, reassuring him that the other gift he'd bought, on his own, was still hiding there.
Butterflies floated in Katsuya's stomach as he took the present from Honda's hand. "Oh... th-thank you...! And, tell Shiz I said 'thank you' to her, too." Still grinning uncontrollably, he admitted, "I'm sorry, I didn't buy you anything..." He then reached in his pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper. "But, I made you something..." He blushed, and his hand trembled a bit. "You want me to open mine first, or um... did you want to see your gift first...?"
Honda was slightly confused as to why he should send Katsuya's thanks to his sister, rather than Katsuya just telling her himself, but he just nodded. "You open that first, since I got you something else too. I can see my gift in between them, how's that sound?" By this point he was fairly sure that Katsuya would like the gifts, so he was less nervous.
"Y-you didn't have to get me two presents..." Katsuya commented as he knelt down and set his gift on the floor to open it. He removed the bow and carefully unwrapped the box, not wanting to tear any of the beautiful paper. When all the paper was removed from the package, Katsuya's eyes widened as well as his smile. "You... you... bought me... a... kareoke machine...?" He panted in surprise and ecstasy. "Th... thank you...!" He threw his arms around Honda. "...This means that you're supporting my dream, right...?"
"Of course I am, did I ever say otherwise?" Honda replied with a grin, wrapping an arm around Katsuya. He'd thought that his friend would like the kareoke machine, but this was an even bigger reaction than he'd hoped for. "Lemme remind you again that Shiz is the one to really thank, though, since she's the one who picked it out. I just went along with it." He stuck his hand into his pocket again, debating if he should pull the second present out now. "Heh, maybe I should have given you my other present first. I had wanted to get you something that was just from me, but I'm not sure I can top your sister's idea."
"It's all right; I'll thank her, too," replied Katsuya, still holding onto Honda. Still staring deeply into his eyes, he slowly let go. "Um..." he shyly turned the folded paper by its corners. "I know it isn't much, but... do you want your present now? I... made it quite a while ago..." He blushed with pleading brown eyes.
"Okay. Yeah, I want my present now." Honda continued smiling, though he was a little unnerved by how nervous Katsuya seemed. He tried not to let on that fact, or the fact that he was a bit saddened by his friend letting go. "Since it's from you, I'm sure it'll be good."
Katsuya took a deep breath and handed the paper to Honda. Hopefully, Honda would have been just oblivious enough to not know that it was Katsuya's song, revealing his feelings for him. Though, Katsuya intended to give Honda a small hint, but he feared that he may have overdone it.

Honda accepted the paper and, indeed being almost as oblivious as people thought he was, was puzzled as he carefully unfolded it. Once it was open in front of him, he stared for several moments, trying to work through in his mind what the words were saying. He looked up at Katsuya in shock without meeting his gaze, then looked back down at the paper. The cycle continued a few times, as Honda struggled to find his own words. "This... you... is this... you mean... I..." He swallowed and tried once again. "It's amazing. Just... amazing." He looked Katsuya in the eye for a fraction of a second before dropping his gaze and fighting down a blush. "I..." he trailed off, still unsure how to voice his thoughts. A growing part of his mind wanted to just pull the blond close and never let go, no matter what. He lifted a hand hesitantly, but let it drop again and continued staring at the floor, partly hating himself now for not having the right words anywhere to be found.
Simpering behind the hand that was put to his lips, Katsuya was grateful indeed. Not only did Honda stay where he was, but he seemed to like his gift as well. "Thank you..." Katsuya then said quietly. He tucked his lower lip in his mouth, anxiously awaiting what Honda's other present could be.
Honda shook his head, having to remind himself how to breath, much less talk. "No, thank you," he whispered, eyes darting timidly to the other's face. He gave up trying to push down his blush, since by this point it was useless. He cleared his throat and pulled a slim gift out of his pocket. "Um, here..." He held it out and looked away. "You said earlier that you wanted this, so I thought I'd go ahead and buy it for you." Even if now he thought it was going to be pretty much a let down compared to the other presents.
Katsuya took the small case from Honda's hand, and once he inspected it closer, he gasped in awe. "This... this is..." Katsuya could barely contain a scream. "Exile's new single, 'Exit'! Oh. My. Gosh! Thank you!" The blonde laughed with so much joy, that he was about to cry. He then threw his arms around Honda and gave him a tiny peck on the cheek. When Katsuya realized what he had just done, however, he immediately let go of his friend, blushing and staring at the ground in embarrassment.
"Heh, guess I didn't have to worry so much if you'd like it after all." Honda stepped closer and slowly brought a hand up to lightly rub Katsuya's cheek. "So, I did good?" He bit his lip again and watched the blond. Honda wanted so badly to move his other hand to his friend's waist, to ask if he could return the kiss he had just received, but something held him back. Instead, he simply stood and watched, a small smile on his face as he waited for the other to look up at him.
Katsuya's heart pounded as he gathered the courage to face Honda again. It was the best day ever. Not only did he get the greatest gifts in the world--including Honda just being there, but the kind, generous friend of Katsuya's didn't retreat at his sign of affection. The blonde yearned for a hug, or to take the chance to say the 'L-word', but he reminded himself not to push his luck. Instead, he took Honda's hand, and moved his own hand along his cheek, and gazed lovingly into those brown eyes.
Honda's breath caught in his throat at the contact from Katsuya's hand on his, and he let his eyes slip closed for a moment. Why he was getting such pleasure from something that seemed so innocent, he had no idea. Leaving that hand caught, he used the other one to capture Katsuya's other wrist. Eyes fluttering open, he pulled slightly closer to his friend-turned-romantic interest, hoping he wasn't being too forward in doing so. "Well," he whispered, having finally found his voice again, "now what?" He dipped his head down, resting his forehead against the blond's, trying his hardest to not screw up again.
Now nothing more than weakness in his friend's hands, Katsuya could only look down and stammer, "I... don't know..." Hesitantly reverting his gaze to Honda's eyes, he then suggested, "Maybe... I'd... try my present out... for you..." He blushed at the last two words.
"I... I'd like that," Honda smiled and continued to whisper. He let go of Katsuya's wrist and tilted his head up again, but othewise didn't pull away. At this point, he wasn't sure if he could, much less wanted to, move away. It was still about all he could do to resist going any farther. "I think I'd like that a lot."
"Okay..." Katsuya reluctantly backed away from Honda and opened his box. He read the instructions for his kareoke machine and learned a disappointing fact. "Oh... it needs two D batteries. You don't have any on you, do you...?"
Honda's smile broadened as he wordlessly pulled a package of batteries out of his other coat pocket and held them out. He was quite glad he'd thought ahead enough to bring them, since it was certainly no fun to have to make a trip to the store just so you could play with a new toy. Not that Honda had much experience with that, but still. After Katsuya took the batteries from him, Honda sat down rather ungracefully on the floor and waited for the blond to figure out the kareoke machine.
Grinning excitedly, Katsuya popped the batteries in and after a few moments of reading the manual, he inserted his new CD into the machine. He sighed, getting ready for the song to start. Katsuya faced Honda once again when the song began and hit every word perfectly as he had learned the words from the radio. Nothing at that moment could give Katsuya greater pleasure than sharing his talent with Honda and watching him smile.
Honda stared in awe as Katsuya sang in front of him, sappy smile still on his face. For the next few minutes, he felt like nothing else existed but the two of them, even though that was a horribly cliched idea. As the song came to an end, he applauded quietly from his daze, uncertain if Katsuya was going to continue or stop there. "That was..." 'Amazing'? No, he'd already used that word a few minutes ago. 'Great'? No, that didn't seem like enough. "Incredible," he decided with a nod. "Absolutely incredible." It was probably for the best that he was already seated, part of his brain noted with amusement.
"Thank you," Katsuya responded silently. He took a few moments staring affectionately at his solitary audience member. "It... really means a lot to me, just... you being here with me... This is the best Christmas I've ever had, Honda-kun." Katsuya was about to admit his love to his friend, as well as his relationship with Mahaado, but decided not to blow the moment. Instead, he walked to Honda, bent down, and hugged him.
Honda wrapped his arms around Katsuya and leaned against him, taking in the smell and the feel and every other detail he possibly could. "Same here," he murmured against the other's neck as he attempted to pull him into his lap. Why, he wasn't sure, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. The fact that he wanted to be as close as he could overshadowed any potential worries that he might have had otherwise.
Katsuya submitted himself into Honda's arms. He snuggled as close to him as he possibly could, giving him his love through actions rather than words. The blonde pulled Honda's face closer to him, and fluttered his eyelashes on his skin. Katsuya moved his lips closer, not yet touching his crush's cheek, but just enough to let him know that he wanted them to...
Honda tightened his arms around Katsuya's waist and wondered momentarily if this was a signal to take thing further. Not allowing himself to think about it much, least he talk himself out of it, he leaned in to lightly and hesitantly brush his lips against Katsuya's cheek, then pulled back and looked him in the eyes, hoping he had guessed right.
Smiling and allowing a light blush to color his cheeks, Katsuya gently brushed his lips against Honda's. Then, he closed his eyes, and let his head fall on his shoulder. Katsuya gripped Honda even tighter, sending him every last bit of his affections.
Honda gaped for a moment, thoughts racing. 'He... I... Did he... He just kissed me!' This both thrilled and terrified Honda. Not sure what to do next, he just sat there lightly rubbing his fingers up and down Katsuya's back, trying to ignore the line of Katsuya's neck right in front of him
Katsuya suddenly stirred, realizing something. "Oh, do you have to be anywhere...?" He asked, a bit groggily.
Honda shrugged, or at least did the best he could with Katsuya still leaning against him. "Well, I have other stuff to drop off at other places eventually, but nowhere urgent right now. Why, you have somewhere you need to be? Meeting your sister or something later?"
"Not today," he answered. "But... if my dad comes home and finds us here..." Katsuya gulped apprehensively. "...He might throw me out... But, I didn't want to keep you if you had somewhere to be, either..."
Honda flinched and looked away. "Right, I forgot about him. I don't want to leave, but maybe I should since I don't want you getting in trouble." He glanced over nervously. "Or you should at least sit on the floor instead of my lap, I guess, even though we're enjoying this." He hesitantly removed his arms from Katsuya's waist.
"You should probably leave now," Katsuya lectured. "I don't know when he'll be sober..." He reluctantly climbed out of Honda's lap and sat on the floor, focusing on Honda's eyes once more. "I'll miss you though... a lot." Katsuya sighed again, and gave his friend a warm smile. "But, did anyone ever tell you how beautiful your eyes were...?" He gasped suddenly. "Oh! I'm such a fool. I don't want to get you in trouble, either..."
"Um, thanks for the compliment, again... Who are you worried I'm gonna be in trouble with now?" The abrupt shift in topics startled Honda, enough so that the idea of leaving was momentarily pushed aside. "I understand that you're concerned that your dad will get mad at you, but I don't think he can do much to me." Honda tried to think who else his best friend could be talking about, and came up empty.
"I don't want him chasing after you or throwing stuff at you..." Katsuya threw his arms around Honda possesively. "I'd rather he'd hit me or curse at me or something than you. That's why I think you should leave now... Hope you aren't sad or anything..."
Honda sighed and briefly hugged Katsuya before standing up, dragging the blond up with him. "Don't talk like that. I'd rather he curse at me or try to hit me, than do that to you, okay?" He gave another hug. "And I'm not too sad, so don't worry." He let go and stepped towards the door. "I'll see you later, so don't you be too sad either."
"I promise I won't..." Katsuya followed Honda, but stopped at the doorway to watch him leave. "Goodbye, Honda-kun. I really will miss you..." The timid boy gave his companion a gentle smile.
Honda checked to make sure the paper with Katsuya's song on it was safely tucked into his pocket before giving the blond a smile and wave. "Have a good time with the rest of your Christmas." He turned to leave, then remembered something rather important. "Oh, and I'll try to stop by again before you leave to give you Shiz's present. See ya later." This time he actually turned and left, quickly moving out of view and earshot.
